WEST BOYLSTON — The West Boylston Zoning Board of Appeals voted 5-0 Thursday to grant an administrative appeal filed by Ashley Quist, overturning Building Inspector Tony's refusal to enforce a six-foot hedge-height condition tied to Reservoir Garage's 2003 variance. Quist said the privet hedge separating her family's Worcester Street home from the garage had shrunk to as low as 4 feet 2 inches. Garage owner Robert Dunn agreed to let the hedge grow back to "at least six feet," though the board said the variance's wording does not support Quist's request for eight feet.
Member John Benson's finding specified the ruling applies "for purposes of this variance" only, to avoid setting a townwide definition equating hedges with evergreens. The board also voted unanimously to retain its current officers, with Christopher Olson remaining chair, and approved March 19 minutes 5-0.
