Finance Committee · Meeting of August 25, 2026

West Boylston Finance Committee weighs a $119 million five-project capital plan that could raise property taxes 33 percent. The panel's whiteboarding subcommittee outlined a $71.5 million Major Edwards Elementary rebuild, a $16 million middle-high school renovation, a $32 million DPW building, a $33.4 million fire station and a cemetery expansion, and reported that bond advisor Hilltop Securities "did not see that as realistic" if pursued all at once. Separately, the fire chief told the committee Engine 1, a 2007 apparatus, needs an unbudgeted $21,000-to-$25,000 engine rebuild after its turbo failed and sent metal shavings into the cylinders, saying it "puked all of its oil all over the road." The committee voted unanimously to name Andrea Quinn its representative to the School Building Committee.

Member Raymond J. Bricault Jr. also updated the panel on a proposed state land swap near the Wachusett Reservoir and regional PILOT funding reform efforts.
