Finance Panel Previews $16M School Renovation Plan
West Boylston Finance Committee previews $16 million school renovation and a cemetery running low on space.
Finance Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026
West Boylston Finance Committee previews $16 million school renovation and a cemetery running low on space. The committee expects a $16 million Middle/High School renovation project and a fire-engine repair item on the fall town meeting warrant, with roughly $5 million expected back from the Massachusetts School Building Authority. Member Andrea Quinn said School Building Committee information sessions are set for September 21 and October 6.
Officials warned that completing five pending capital projects — including a cemetery with as little as two to five years of burial capacity left — simultaneously would raise property taxes by roughly a third, which members called "a non-starter." Resident David Ashley of 139 Woodland Street told the committee a plan to hire another police officer collapsed after "the police union said no." No funding votes were taken; the committee approved only its prior minutes, unanimously.
