Board of Health · Meeting of February 25, 2026
West Boylston's Board of Health dismissed a $1,000 tobacco fine and adopted new trash rules tied to pay-as-you-throw. Board member Thomas J. Mullins said he favored "not upholding it at this point" after the Choice Tobacco owner appealed a fine for selling banned nitrous oxide "whippets" and leaving a humidor unlocked; the board waived the penalty but warned a repeat violation within three years would cost $2,000 and risk the permit. Interim Town Administrator Carter Terenzini said the town will recommend a $30-per-unit annual fee, plus $15 a month for an extra cart.
DEP recycling coordinator Irene Condon said West Boylston households generate roughly half the trash of neighboring Boylston under the current bag system. The board also approved a $6,250 online permitting system invoice, split between the Board of Health and Solid Waste Enterprise funds.
