Select Board · Meeting of March 4, 2026

West Boylston Select Board voted to eliminate pay-as-you-throw trash bags from its new solid waste program. Chair Vanessa Kuzmanovski proposed a flat fee near $39 a month with a 30 percent discount for residents 65 and older, saying the move would save roughly $85,000 a year in bag costs. Finance Committee representative Norma Chanin objected, warning "a family that produces far more puts out four, therefore they pay a higher part of the bill." The board also voted 4-0 to exempt many accessory dwelling units from new sewer privilege fees and released a stalled Shrewsbury Street building permit.

It corrected a letter seeking a federal earmark for a fire ladder truck from $1.4 million to the actual $1.8 million request, and approved $125,000 in cemetery grant spending on engineering testing and a master plan. A March 10 public hearing on the trash rules is set.
