WEST BOYLSTON — The Community Preservation Committee tabled a vote on $1.6 million in funding for the Woodland Park soccer field and pickleball renovation, citing unresolved drainage and cost questions ahead of the May 18 town meeting. Committee member Steve said a detailed cost estimate is expected around May 4, but the design firm, Warner Larson, won't finalize drawings until it resolves whether four buried drainage manholes shown on a 1999 plan can still be used, a difference estimated at 50 percent of drainage costs. Resident David Winston of 38 Helen Drive urged the panel to consider a playground instead, saying "this isn't anti-pickleball at all." Members noted the project could consume nearly all of the committee's $1,627,000 unrestricted balance and that a state park grant of up to $450,000 requires full funding and proven community support, neither yet documented.
