Other Committee · Meeting of April 6, 2026
West Boylston's Parks Commission reviewed a revised $1.6 million design for Woodland Street Park aimed at addressing pickleball noise and public feedback. Landscape architect Ty and colleague Patrick Callahan presented a sound study showing a barrier could hold pickleball noise to 60 decibels at 100 feet and 54 at 200 feet, versus a 45-decibel daytime baseline. The board dropped a $75,000 to $100,000 play structure as infeasible and is targeting a Conservation Commission filing by late May for a June hearing, with construction possible by August if Town Meeting approves funding.
Commissioners also weighed a permanent ban on dogs from fenced fields after repeated damage at Mixter Field, planning signage, fines of $200 to $300, and a vote at their next meeting. The board unanimously denied Route 12 Pickleball's request to rent outdoor courts and approved a student council plant sale permit.
