West Boylston Select Board voted 4-1 to seek a Board of Health waiver ending its pay-as-you-throw trash program. Member Barur R. Rajeshkumar cast the lone no vote.
The board directed Town Administrator Carter to budget for a 10 percent customer dropout and a 30 percent tonnage increase under the planned flat-fee system, discussed at roughly $39 a month before a senior discount near $27.30. A final rate vote is set for April 1. Separately, the board approved a 10.31 percent health insurance renewal, down from an initial 13.45 percent, saving nearly $132,000, and unanimously extended Sergeant Belvin's acting police chief appointment tied to Chief Minich's ongoing leave.
Insurance advisor Ken Lombardi called it "a really good renewal compared to our loss ratio."
