West Boylston's Select Board reorganized and then pressed a cannabis company over five years of unpaid host fees. The board elected Vanessa Kuzmanovski chair, Michael T. Connors clerk and David Ashwell vice chair, seating Connors as a new member.
Humboldt Masters CEO Andrew Kazikoff appeared before the board to answer for the company's non-compliance with its host community agreement, with Town Counsel saying the town has received zero dollars in fees over roughly five years. Ashwell told Kazikoff, "You found a loophole, and that's why you're not paying or complying with any of the things in your contract." The board gave the company two weeks to submit financial records and 30 days to negotiate next steps. Separately, the board approved a $97,400 regional health agreement with Shrewsbury, tabled a $10,000-a-year police comfort dog grant for two weeks, and authorized a $90,000 ADA accessibility grant application for Town Common.
